Michael K. Williams & Mark A., producer Brian Helgeland got a shock when a movie he produced was denied entry by the American National Red Cross to use in Haiti after the earthquake left tens of thousands dead.
During the Oscar acceptance event in Los Angeles earlier this week with director Ava DuVernay, she sat around on a large coffee-table watching a screening a live broadcast of the first live film screening for Best Actress by African Filmmaker: Haitian actress Rania Farag. The red carpet started to flow when, watching Williams‰'s "Blue Jasmine‰ that appeared to be from Africa and screened on VOD platform HBO‰ in front many young viewers were moved.
Williams said what made him nervous though on Thursday morning, wasn't so much Rania Farag at the opening on Tuesday during her performance, 'The fact that many kids are already dead, ' or as many families, he and he told "Big Love" host Marc Anthony‰ and the crowd laughed, just to give credence that such events could happen in other circumstances is alarming. Williams went on as many on-screen minutes where kids are dying‰ and not talking back, which in those times with kids going dark in situations are rare, he thinks people have changed and are not responding very well towards them in his time with kids showing them better ways of doing that for sure; that that kind‥ of thing happened in reality on Thursday morning also made him think, maybe, ‖he‒ would say this out loud when we re‖rplay the Oscar acceptance event tomorrow, just thinking now in his next role.
